Meet the team

RDT is privately owned by the three people who founded it, and who still work here. We’re a close-knit bunch, and some staff have been here for nearly as long as the founders. Our CEO, Mark Bates, operates an open-door policy and makes a point of knowing everyone’s name. He’s the only person in the whole organisation to have their own office, which he’s rarely in.

    Mark is the driving force behind all of RDT’s major innovations, its business practices and even its office culture. He is passionate about technology and all things new, and is continually seeking to create different ways for insurers to process data and improve business performance.

    Mark graduated in 1984 with a degree in systems analysis and began working for Bank of America as a technical consultant. While there he built one of the first Europe-wide networked document image processing systems. He also defined hardware and software standards for the bank’s European division and led the development of several dealing systems.

    Mark co-founded RDT in 1991 with the goal of developing innovative software for the insurance industry. RDT is committed to the Microsoft platform and Mark has sat on numerous Microsoft Advisory Boards.

  • Andy Hardy - RDT Applications Director

    Andy is responsible for the functional design and development of RDT’s end-to-end general insurance software package, Landscape.

    As Applications Director, Andy is responsible for Landscape’s overall functionality. Working with customers, business analysts, lead developers and project managers, he is also responsible for the definition, scope and development of Landscape solutions to RDT’s customer base.

    Andy’s career in software development began at software firm Fraser Williams. He moved on to Bank of America, where he worked as a developer on dealing and loans systems.

  • Holger Hasenstrauch - RDT Technical Director

    Technical Director, Founder

    Holger is responsible for technical guidance and input into RDT’s software design, architecture and development practices, with particular emphasis on delivering robust, scalable, secure and performant software. Having been at RDT since its inception in 1991 he has wide ranging knowledge of its products and the insurance industry it serves, which enables him to inform the key decisions on the company’s technology strategy.

    Holger studied BSc electronic engineering at Southampton University. After graduating he worked as a software engineer designing and developing data communications software products, before joining Mark and Andy to found RDT.

  • RDT Sales and Marketing Director Joe O'Connor

    Sales & Marketing Director

    Joe’s role includes promoting and increasing the customer base of Atlas, RDT’s suite of insurtech products and solutions.

    He has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing in financial services and technology companies. He oversaw impressive international growth at his previous employer Broadridge, a leading provider of technology-based solutions for capital markets, wealth management and asset management firms, where he was the company’s Managing Director of Major Account Sales in EMEA.

  • Philip Whitehead - RDT Finance Director

    Finance Director

    Philip heads up finance, legal and corporate governance for RDT. He also brings an experienced perspective to directing IT departments, especially with significant change and infrastructure projects.

    In previous finance director roles he has been involved in strategic planning, investment appraisal, financial control and IT. Philip’s experience includes blue-chip brands such as Bass (including Holiday Inn Worldwide and Bass Taverns), The Tote (government owned until July 2011), Victor Chandler International and Coral PLC.

  • Shahin Amir-Ebrahimi, RDT's Group Product Owner

    Shahin Amir-Ebrahimi

    Group Product Owner

    As Group Product Owner Shahin is responsible for RDT’s product roadmap, ensuring our products match clients’ requirements and help them deliver their desired customer experiences. He is also accountable for shaping the future of RDT’s product strategy and being a thought leader on the future of insurtech.

    Shahin has 20 years of experience within general insurance, domestically in the UK and across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before joining RDT he worked for RSA and AIG, holding several leadership roles across marketing, customer experience and product development, where he successfully designed and delivered product strategies and sales growth for a variety of big brands including John Lewis and Virgin Money.

    His product experience spans car, home, pet, travel, personal accident, short term health and extended warranty.

  • Neil Regan - Director of Operations RDT Asia

    Director of Operations RDT Asia

    Neil is based in Adelaide, Australia, and is responsible for RDT Australia, as well as providing support for RDT’s UK customers.

    He has led a number of large-scale projects and teams, using both agile and waterfall development styles, through to completion or benefits realisation, often exceeding stakeholder expectations.

    Neil began his career as a software engineer, first working on aerospace flight control systems for GEC Marconi Avionics, and later developing clinical trial software for large pharmaceutical companies. He started working at RDT in 2005 as a project manager.

  • Fiona Mason - RDT HR Director

    The heart of RDT is our people – talented professionals with exceptional skills who ensure that our products and services are best in breed. Fiona’s remit is to ensure that we hire and retain the best of the best. She has been with RDT since 2011 and has seen our headcount more than double in that time.

    Fiona began her career in the City, having worked at Bank of America for 12 years. After a period of consultancy she chose to join RDT permanently. Fiona is passionate about working creatively with People in Technology and has supported us in our growth by providing interventions around recruitment, performance and learning. By investing in our people we invest in our business.

  • Laura Bridge - RDT Chief IT Services & Quality Officer

    Chief IT Services & Quality Officer

    Laura is responsible for making sure we release high quality software to our clients.  She also heads up the IT Services team within RDT and is responsible for our Managed Services ITIL service desk.

    Laura has been working in the IT industry for over 12 years.  She has experience in all aspects of the software delivery life cycle as well as all types of quality and testing processes.  She looks after our releases to the client and is responsible for our managed services desk team.  She also manages the IT services team that work in house and with our clients on any infrastructure and application needs.

  • Justin Cordingley - RDT Chief Information Officer

    Justin is experienced leading teams and departments to deliver efficient, reliable, and secure solutions both on premises and in the cloud.

    His role includes the performance and output of the delivery teams at RDT, ensuring solutions align with RDT’s technology and product roadmaps.

    He has been involved in the software industry for more than 20 years and started out in software engineering, where he established a strong technical background using Microsoft technologies.  He brings experience across marketing, financial services and insurance sectors.

    Justin has a proven track record in building great teams delivering solutions using agile methodologies.  He is highly experienced in creating environments where communities of architects and engineers can share their knowledge, deliver value and achieve excellence.

  • Debbie King, Sales and Marketing Operations Manager

    Sales & Marketing Manager

    Debbie joined RDT’s Sales and Marketing department in 2014. She has responsibility for event organisation, social media planning and execution, website content, and implementation and maintenance of the CRM system.

    Debbie brings a wealth of insurance and IT knowledge with her having previously worked for an international insurance software company which presented her with opportunities to work in the US, Malaysia and India. She has also worked within the IT departments of blue-chip insurance companies including Allianz, XL and Generali.

  • Client Relationship Manager Stuart Dewhurst

    Client Relationship Manager

    Stuart came to RDT with 20 years of experience in personal lines insurance focused on project management, analysis and testing. He’s a seasoned leader, with a proven track record of solving technical problems.

    Before coming to RDT Stuart spent eight years at Markerstudy Group, first in product development and then as a project manager. He was already very familiar with RDT when he joined us as he’d worked with us on a number of projects while at Markerstudy, integrating software house systems with Equator.

    In his customer-facing role at RDT Stuart is well placed to make best use of his technical and insurance knowledge to further develop long-term relationships between RDT and its clients.

  • Business Development Executive Stuart Favier

    Business Development Executive

    Stuart is responsible for developing existing client relationships and identifying and bringing on board new partners.

    He has nine years of experience in financial services, predominantly in sales and account management roles.  Immediately before joining RDT, Stuart spent seven years working for Sterling Insurance (acquired by Covea Insurance in 2016), where he was responsible for managing a number of the company’s key relationships.  While there he also completed a 12-month secondment as a product owner, working within an Agile framework to implement new business wins across the company.

  • Lisa Hook - RDT Programme Manager

    Lisa is a strong Programme Manager who has over 15 years’ experience executing and delivering high profile projects in the Financial, IT and Telecoms sectors.

    An effective communicator who is well respected by her clients for providing excellent customer service, and by colleagues for her capability to manage all levels of project activities.

    Lisa embraces the pace at which technology is advancing within RDT, adapting to each project by using her personal skills and the appropriate project methodologies that are at the forefront in the industry.

  • RDT Head of IT Operations Gary Harrison

    Gary Harrison

    Head of IT Operations

    Gary is responsible for the IT infrastructure for RDT and managed clients. This ranges from supporting the corporate desktop infrastructure to rolling out and managing full cloud deployments.

    Gary has more than 20 years of experience in an IT background. After leaving college he started as a support technician, moving into a mainframe operations role and then back into IT support.  Gary has worked his way up through various technical analyst roles and has managed large infrastructure projects for both private and public sectors.  Gary now leads a knowledgeable and dedicated infrastructure team that is always pushing the latest and best of breed technologies for RDT and its clients.

  • Maggie Chapman - RDT Administration Services Manager

    Administration Services Manager

    Maggie is the first person you will see when arriving at RDT as her role includes reception duties as well as ensuring the office runs smoothly and effectively behind the scenes. She also organises the majority of the team’s social events, from ten pin bowling and foot golf to summer activity socials and lunchtime walks.

    Maggie has worked in HR in the banking sector, various PA roles within the corporate world and, more recently, she worked as a school secretary where she learnt to navigate a multitude of challenges simultaneously and where no day was ever the same – a great education for the world of RDT!

  • RDT Product Owner Damini Singh

    Damini Singh

    Product Owner

    Damini is a Product Owner for RDT’s Panorama suite of products and services. Her role involves working with stakeholders and the development teams to bring new ideas to life using the latest technologies. Working with agile teams in a fast paced environment is one of Damini’s core strengths.

    Damini has more than 20 years of experience in financial services and insurance, and has worked for companies including American Express and New York Life Insurance. She came to RDT more than seven years ago and has been involved in a variety of products and projects, with a wide cross section of clients. Most recently, she has worked with the teams to deliver the mobile phone app for TRiCE Insurance.

  • Laura Bates

    Laura Bates

    Communications Manager

    Laura oversees the writing and production of all the literature, collateral and press releases that RDT puts out.

    Before working for RDT she spent more than 20 years as a journalist, starting out in 1988 as a cub reporter on a local paper in Dorset and then training as a feature writer at a syndication business. In the very early 90s she worked as a music journalist for the international agency WENN before switching to production and becoming a sub editor. She spent eight years at the People and the Daily Mirror and more recently worked as a news sub for The Telegraph, The Sun, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express. Laura left Fleet Street in 2011 to work for RDT.
