New talent is integral to RDT’s success. We invest time and money into ensuring that our trainee programmes, including school work experience placements, are meaningful and fulfilling for the participants. Our aim is to capture raw talent, nurture it and keep hold of it.

We develop our youngsters with the aim of creating full time permanent careers at RDT. We don’t take many trainees on each year but every year we take a few of the best and give them a great experience.

Apprenticeships

We recognise that Uni isn’t for everyone, and we don’t want to miss out on the talented people who choose a different path. By partnering with The Open University and  The Development Manager, we’re able to support apprentices’ ‘earn while you learn’ journeys with access to leading digital and technology degree programmes.

Graduates

Most of our trainees have spent time with us before, either as interns, on placement years or from work experience weeks. Each year we like to identify a small number of talented undergraduates to join us once they are done with studying.

The programme covers the technical side of the business and we seek technical graduates wanting to further their career in a cutting-edge environment packed with learning and that values innovation.

Work experience

This is the first step on the road to understanding more about work and working at RDT.

We carefully plan and execute a wide-ranging week of experience.  We balance awareness sessions to understand the business and the products, with time on the tools with our technical people.  Our current trainee cohort (from our Apprentice and Graduate intakes) spend time sharing their journeys and exploring the different routes for study and work – this is invaluable for the students we host.

The social and fun side of work is not ignored!  We place an emphasis on this with team events, games and sometimes even a cheeky pool competition!  All students who spend time with us gain real time exposure to the world of work and leave better prepared from a CV and interview perspective.

Our aim is to identify talent early and nurture it into further experience opportunities and on into apprenticeship, internship or graduate offers.  We have been very successful with this route, and it allows for a work ready, RDT ready pool of talent to choose from.

Recruitment process

Our search for talent begins with actively participating in school, college and Uni career fairs, and specialist events where we engage with students and introduce them to the exciting opportunities at RDT.

Contributing to these events allows us to attract a diverse pool of passionate applicants eager to embark on a transformative career journey in technology and InsurTech.

We actively engage with work experience programmes for students under 18 and run a number of comprehensive, week-long periods of work experience at our Head Office: an extensive week of activities that blends informative sessions about the business and its products with hands-on time using tools alongside our technical team.

Inviting students to return for a more intensive team based period later in the year allows us to get to know our student better and start to consider offers for the following year.

We also actively encourage applicants to contact us directly for open positions.  A screening process that involves technical and career aspirations discussions allows us to get to know those people who have interest in joining RDT.

Testimonials

As a graduate with no prior experience in the working world, breaking into the tech industry was tough. However, RDT has provided me an invaluable opportunity. My experience with being recruited by RDT was smooth, swift, and stress free. Furthermore, the process was not dragged out, nor were there any long periods of silence. RDT kept me informed during every step of the process with clear lines of communication as well as addressing any concerns I raised with respect and openness. My time at RDT thus far has been a challenging but fun learning experience where I get to work on interesting projects, alongside fun and interesting people.
