Meet our graduates

Victor Abayomi-Joseph
Associate Data Engineer
Before joining RDT, I studied Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, where I discovered my passion for working with data and uncovering the stories it holds. After graduating, I spent a year doing warehouse shifts and working as an online AI trainer whilst building personal data engineering projects in my spare time. I originally applied for a Software Engineer role. When RDT announced they were looking for a Data Engineer at the Inspiration Day, I knew it was the perfect fit.
My experience so far has been incredibly rewarding. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, from mastering new data tools to understanding how software drives business value. There’s always something new to discover, which makes every day exciting.
As a Data Engineer, I help manage how customer data is stored and processed for RDT and its clients, making sure everything runs smoothly and securely. The data layer is a significant part of what keeps systems like Landscape and ACE functioning properly, so it must be handled correctly. Much of what I do focuses on the future, including finding ways to simplify processes, improve deployments, and increase efficiency. I also work closely with developers to make sure the solutions we build are both technically correct and fit the bigger picture. On top of that, I get involved in projects for both RDT and our customers, like data migrations and improving our managed services capabilities.
My favourite thing about working at RDT is the balance of autonomy and support. I’m trusted to work independently whilst having access to guidance whenever I need it. From day one, I’ve been encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and contribute to projects that deliver real value. My manager also ensures I’m involved in a wide range of projects, which accelerates my development significantly.
RDT has supported me by providing opportunities to take my career to the next level, from impactful projects to Microsoft certifications that elevate the quality of my work. The culture here is very supportive, with approachable colleagues who are always eager to share knowledge, creating an environment where growth feels natural.

Hossam Barbari
Associate Software Engineer
Before joining RDT, I studied Computer Science at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I developed a strong passion for software engineering and problem-solving. During my final year, I applied for the graduate programme at RDT. After a series of online and in-person interviews, I was thrilled to be offered the role of Associate Software Engineer.
Since joining RDT, my experience has been nothing short of rewarding. I’ve gained invaluable hands-on experience working with a talented and supportive team, learning about industry-standard software development lifecycles and cloud infrastructure. Each project presents new challenges and opportunities to grow, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing how the theory I learned at university applies in a real-world, collaborative environment.
My favourite thing about working at RDT is the culture: being surrounded by like-minded individuals who are always happy to share knowledge, discuss ideas, and help one another out. The people here truly make the difference. Having an approachable and supportive manager has also made my journey much smoother, and it’s great to feel encouraged to ask questions, experiment, and keep improving. I’m genuinely excited about what the future holds at RDT and the opportunities to continue growing as a software engineer.

Alex Askew
Associate Software Engineer
Prior to RDT, I studied Computer Science at the University of Greenwich, where my true love for the field was fully ignited. After graduating from university in 2022, I wanted to apply this passion to real and impactful problems. Following a stint of working night shifts at a supermarket and completing a coding bootcamp, I applied to work at RDT and the rest is history. During my time working here, I can safely say that I have never felt more respected or fulfilled in a role, and I get to do what I love all day with great people.
As an Associate Software Engineer at RDT, I am responsible for adhering to RDT’s software development lifecycle. My role involves writing the CI/CD scripts, developing the frontend, backend, and database, reviewing code, and contributing ideas alongside potential solutions, with the goal of meeting our project’s requirements in a timely manner.
My favourite thing about working at RDT is the people, especially those in my team. Not only are they a great company in and out of work, but they are also reliable and always willing to help. Another key aspect I appreciate about working at RDT is the respect and autonomy the company gives its employees, which makes the work much more fulfilling as you feel invested in a company that is invested in you. The work itself is also rewarding because it is challenging – every morning presents a new problem to solve, and every evening I go home having overcome one.
Outside of work and programming, my current passion is learning the guitar. It is simultaneously rewarding and humbling. Some of RDT’s other musicians and I are planning to get together outside of work to relax, socialise, and play some music together. I am also attempting to learn a second language. Curiously, it would seem that both my work and hobbies share a similar foundation in the balance between challenge and reward.
As mentioned above, RDT is a company that respects its employees and understands that happy staff lead to greater productivity. This is one of many ways in which I feel supported at RDT. Another example is the dynamic I have with my manager as I feel comfortable approaching them at any time to discuss any issues I have, as well as, having bi-monthly meetings where we can sit down and review progress. Furthermore, RDT has also supported me by providing the resources to obtain Microsoft certifications which are relevant to the work I do here and also beneficial for future career growth.

Joe Hayes
Software Engineer
Before RDT, I went to Cardiff University to do a Computer Science degree. After I finished, I worked on my own for a while, helping clients through friends and family with websites or process automation. However, I really wanted to gain more experience as a software developer, and after connecting with RDT through their Assessment Day, it resulted in me being offered an Associate Software Engineer role.
I was recently promoted to Software Engineer, and throughout my time here, I’ve gotten exactly what I was looking for, as I am constantly presented with new topics to learn and understand. I apply this knowledge to the given projects, where I often find myself collaborating with the team for the best solution. In my day-to-day, I can find myself within code, pipelines, or cloud resources – giving me a nice range of contexts to explore!
One of my favourite things about working at RDT is the culture, it makes my work here that much more enjoyable, it’s a really friendly and fun environment where I feel I can push myself whilst being able to ask any question. This is what I appreciate the most, as I want to learn/improve as much as I can and being in an environment that supports this is exactly what I was looking for.
I am most passionate about trying new things, I love to try different programming languages and frameworks. Its interesting to me to see how one process can be done in many different ways and which one is the most efficient.
RDT has really supported me and our team with supports like flexible starting times and work-from-home arrangements. Our team members have longer commutes than normal, so having this flexibility really helps when it comes to making the most out of my day.
